2001-10-05 - 10:01 p.m. - Still unpacking....

Yes, folks, I'm still alive. :D

We are all moved into our new house. I can't believe its actually ours. I don't think it will settle in for me until I make the first payment. At this point in time, I'm still surrounded by boxes and a minor construction zone. We have found more things that need to be fixed, and have discovered some lay person's creative electrical work. Todd pulled the ceiling fan in our bedroom down (which sounded like a freight train all night long) to put in a new one, and we lost power to the garage door opener, the hall closet and to the light in Natalie's room. Not her fan, just the light. Go figure! So he stopped with the ceiling fan and went to fix the garage door. Gets that working and discovers that the air conditioner won't kick on. Now, we had spent $350 the day before having an A/C guy come out and clean the inside unit as it was filthy and wouldn't work, only to discover that the thing didn't seem to be getting enough electricity to kick on. DH calls in a favor and has one of the electrical engineers from work come over to take a look-see. The guy spends an hour over here in our attic trying to figure out what the deal is. He finally traces the wires to a switch box in the little a/c closet. Turns out, yesterday's repair man had turned the thing off, and neglected to flip the power switch back on. We sweltered last night for NO REASON!

The girls seem to be adjusting o.k to their new school. Bekah is in the Kindergarten class, and really having a harder time making the transition than I thought. Natalie has gotten up the last 3 mornings asking if she can please go to her new school. Odd. I had figured Natalie would have a hard time with the change, and Bekah would slip right in. Turns out to be the other way around. Those two never cease to amaze me.

I'm exhausted and going to head off to bed. Wonder if Jen has delivered yet. Keep sending Naomi late vibes as her shower isn't until Sunday, and I'm no where near prepared for it. If you all want to come, e-mail me for directions. It's at mom's in her new sunroom. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it's glorious!
