2001-08-13 - 1:42 p.m. - Chocolate Milk

Grammy said I should record this, so here’s a story for your Monday afternoon.

Saturday night I stayed up late watching Chocolat, and then fell asleep on the couch about 2 a.m. Rebekah comes and wakes me up about 7 a.m. wanting to watch Barney. I groggily get up and put the movie on, close the door to their room so Natalie doesn’t get woken up, and then stumble into our bedroom and fall back to sleep. About 9 a.m. Natalie comes and wakes me up wanting more chocolate milk. I think that she is just getting up, so I don’t worry about it….until I get to the kitchen.

I stumble into the kitchen to find a large cup of VERY chocolaty milk already made and sitting amid a chocolate syrup mess on the kitchen table. I turn around to see the chocolate trail on the kitchen floor, and notice the milky looking dishwater in a bowl in the sink. My brain is slowing starting to emerge from the fog of slumber, and it is about that time that Natalie hands me her cup to fill. I pour the pre-made milk into her cup, and put the rest of the mix in the fridge for later. As I am turning around to head out of the kitchen, Bekah hands me an empty milk-jug and said that she can’t get the spoon out, and can I please help. It’s starting to hit me what has happened, now. Rebekah, being the generously helpful big sister self, has made the remains of the jug of milk into chocolate milk for her little sister! She stuck a spoon into the jug to stir it, and lost the spoon instead, so she dumps all the milk into the sink hoping the spoon will come out! In all honestly, I lost it. I started yelling at her and sent her back into her room so that I can regain my composure.

I clean up the mess on the floor, the table and venture into the living room to see if there is (oh, please no) chocolate milk/syrup on the newly cleaned carpet. Thankfully, I see no signs, so return to figure out how to get the spoon out of the milk jug. I wound up having to cut the jug apart, to retrieve the bent spoon. How it got bent, I’m not sure. I stumble around making some sort of breakfast, and wonder-of-wonders we actually get dressed and head out the door to visit another church.

Miracle of Miracles! The church that we visit, not only has a “Casual Contemporary Service”, but it doesn’t start until 11 a.m.! So instead of being late, as I had anticipated, we were on time and I enjoyed the service. I think that I’ve found a church! THANK YOU GOD!

So to re-cap the week. God has shown His amazing glorious grace and love to us this week! Monday, He sold our house. Thursday He found us another house. Friday He found us a fridge for our new house at a WONDERFUL price, and Sunday, He found us a church that may just be the answer to a year of prayer! PRAISE GOD!

I bask in the glow of God’s wonderful provision. I thank you all for your prayers, and ask that you would continue to pray that the process continues to flow smoothly through closing.

My God Is an AWESOME God!

Until next time…
